Headshot session in Wimbledon

headshot pooto shoot in Wimbledon

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking some headshots for Louise Abbott-Little of Essence Therapies. Louise is an aromatherapist and massage therapist based in South London with, as she puts it, a sideline in handmade jewellery. She needed some up-to-date headshots to use on her Facebook and Twitter profiles. We used the natural light studio above Gooseberry Bush Centres in Wimbledon for the photos as Louise wanted a location where she could have some outfit changes. This was an ideal location since Louise is one of the therapists at Gooseberry Bush and uses the treatment rooms there.

Before the session Louise admitted that she doesn’t like having her photo taken, and since I feel the same way about being in front of the camera lens, I did all I could to put her at ease and make the session as enjoyable as possible, which I think shows through in the photos. Louise sent over a lovely testimonial after the shoot: ‘My portrait session with Jo was such fun, I had to remind myself that it was actually work! I normally hate having my photo taken as I tend to close my eyes or pull a face at exactly the wrong moment, but Jo put me at my ease, chatted easily and understood my nerves. I now have a set of pictures for my business website, Facebook and twitter where I look friendly, approachable and happy. I highly recommend Jo’s photographic skills and personable approach.’

After we had taken the photos Louise gave me an aromatherapy massage which I can highly recommend! I felt relaxed and recharged for several days afterwards and am looking forward to my next appointment. To book a treatment with Louise you can visit her website http://www.essence-therapies.co.uk/ or see her on the Gooseberry Bush website http://gooseberrybushcentres.com/therapies Or why not have a look at her Twitter page www.twitter.com/essencetherapie

Spring mini sessions in March

spring mini photo sessions with Sweetheart Studio

Even though it’s nearly dark at 4pm today, I thought it was time to start thinking about spring so I wanted to share that I will be running another morning of Spring Short and Sweet photo sessions on the morning of Saturday 16 March this year. These sessions are suitable for children, couples or families and will last 30 minutes (full portrait sessions usually last up to two hours). Because they are shorter, they offer a considerable saving on my normal package prices which start at £350 for a similar package with digital images.

The sessions cost £150 which includes:

  • the shoot
  • a What to Expect guide
  • a selection of images from the day uploaded to a password-protected online gallery which will be live for seven days
  • your choice of five images as 8x6in prints and on DVD so that you can print as many copies as you like (along with resized images for you to share on Facebook) which will be delivered to you beautifully wrapped and presented.

They will take place Kingston, Richmond or Teddington, but I will confirm location during the week before the shoot once I have been on a hunt to see which locations are looking their best. Available times are 9.15am; 10am; 10.45am and 11.30am.

If you would like to book a slot, please call me on 07711 087636  or at jo@sweetheartstudio.co.uk I will require a £50 slot reservation fee so will invoice you for this once you have chosen a time for your mini session. I will then send you a What to Expect guide and other shoot information.

I had a lovely headshot session last week with Sarah Parkinson, a pilates instructor. The shoot took place in Sarah’s home in Wimbledon which was very calm, beautiful and smelled of roses from the scented candles. I felt very serene by the end of the shoot! Sarah runs pilates classes at Gooseberry Bush in Wimbledon – you can see details here http://gooseberrybushcentres.com/classes She also does pilates classes at Physio On The River in Barnes  http://www.physio-on-the-river.co.uk

You can contact Sarah direct on 07941 547495 or at sparki134@msn.com If you are interested in having a headshot session done in your home or at a location of your choice then please get in touch.

Little ballerinas – portrait session in Kingston upon Thames, part 2

As promised yesterday, here are some more photos from a lovely home shoot I did last week in Kingston upon Thames. The stars of the shoot, two little ballerinas, were quite happy to just practise their ballet steps, chat and play together. This is the advantage of having a portrait shoot in your own home or somewhere you visit regularly such as a park. It means that your children will feel much more at ease since they’re in familiar surroundings. And it also allows me to get more candid shots rather than posed photos so you get a snapshot of your child at a particular moment in time just being themselves.

Home shoots are very relaxed and I’m always happy to let the little stars of the shoot look at themselves in the back of the camera (as the iPhone image snapped by one of their mummies shows…). If you’d like a home portrait shoot please get in touch – my phone number and email are on the contact page.

Little ballerinas – portrait session in Kingston upon Thames, part 1

These two little friends have recently started ballet lessons and I was lucky enough to do a mini portrait session with them in all their tutu-wearing glory. Usually I don’t blog so many images after a shoot, but I’ve decided to this time because there were so many lovely ones of each of the girls on their own and of them together pointing their toes, pirouetting and stopping for a very important snack. It’s hungry work being a ballerina after all. Here’s part one of this blog post today and I’ll post the photos of the little ballerinas together tomorrow…
