Keep calm – it’s only a number

Happy new year everyone! It might be 19 days later than usual, but having a mid-January birthday means that most of my resolutions seem to start after that. And the birthday I’ve just had was quite a big one that ended in a zero… I was very lucky and had a lovely day, a fab party with lots of my favourite people, some very lovely presents and a home-baked cake from my daughter (in training for Junior Bake-Off 2013) which was possibly the most delicious cake I have ever eaten. What struck me most about this birthday more than any other was the life advice offered on lots of the birthday cards and presents I was given. I like the ones about lying about my age and drinking champagne (see below). An especially poignant one for me (for reasons which I don’t want to go into on my blog) was the live, love, laugh one. So that’s going to be my resolution for this year and this age. Obviously that can encompass being more organised and blogging more often as part of my business resolutions (to give me more time and opportunity for living, loving and laughing).

I have lots and lots of lovely shoots to blog about from the end of last year so from Monday will launch my blogging timetable. Hurrah. I feel good about myself already and haven’t even had to follow Bette Davis’s advice ‘There comes a time in every woman’s life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne’.

Anyway, I keep reading that it’s good to share a bit about yourself on your blog as well as talking about your business so here are a few of my favourite bits of my birthday… I’m not sharing any party pics because for once I wasn’t taking any photos. Managing a pitcher of cocktail in a pair of sparkly black platform wedges and telling everyone I loved them was my job for the evening. And I did it well.
