The magic of a Facetime photo shoot

Despite the wonders of video chats, social distancing has meant that lots of new parents have missed the chance to show off their beautiful new babies to family in person. And anyone who has tried to hold a newborn and take a selfie at the same time knows how hard that can be.  But through the magic of Facetime, I can take photos of you no matter where you are in the world. With the newborn shoot below, I was in London taking photos of the family in Manchester. Actual magic. It only works with iPhones because we need to Facetime in order to do the shoot. But I am looking into Android alternatives as we speak…

What you need:

an iPhone 6 or higher (only works with iPhones sorry!)

Some good light. Ideally from a window.

You. Alone or with others (babies, pets, family – whoever you like).

That’s it. Although feel free to add in any props or accessories.

How it works:

We have an initial chat by Facetime to suss out the best place(s) to do your shoot depending on the time of day and light available then.

We book in a time for the actual shoot (it should only take around 30 minutes).

We FaceTime call.

You strap your iPhone to a tripod if you have one or a tin of beans with a hair band if not (really it’s that simple).

Through the magic of Facetime, we go around your house and I take some awesome photos of you/ your kids/ pets/whatever you want in the photos.

Through the magic of the internet the photos are saved to my phone and I download them and then edit them to make them even lovelier.

I send you a link to download your edited photos.
